Let's talk valve seals. GM utilizes a top hat style valve seal in LS and LT heads that retain old oil, and lead to oil consumption. This is a perfect example of how that happens. When we perform valve jobs or spring changes on these heads, we change to a two piece seal and lower retainer which prevents this oil pooling and leads to cleaner running and less oil use.
