On August 24, 1994 WCW presented Clash Of The Champions XXVIII from the Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat defeated Steve Austin to win the WCW United States Championship. However, Steamboat suffered a back injury in the match that forced him into retirement and this would be his last wrestling match until his three-match WWE comeback in 2009. The card was headlined by the first ever nationally televised singles match between WCW World Heavyweight Champion Hu

On May 17, 1992 WCW WrestleWar 1992: WarGames took place from the Jacksonville Memorial Coliseum in Jacksonville, Florida. It was the fourth and final WrestleWar professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by World Championship Wrestling. The main event was a WarGames match, in which Sting’s Squadron (Sting, Barry Windham, Dustin Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat & Nikita Koloff) defeated The Dangerous Alliance (Steve Austin, Ravishing Rick Rude, Arn Anderson, Beautiful Bobby Eaton & Larry Zbyszko)
